Note: last week's vocabulary quiz will take place this Friday, March 17.
In class: Using your completed graphic organizer, please complete the following: (class handout / copy below). This is due at the close of class today. Those who receive extended time will have theirs collected at the beginning of class tomorrow. The graphic organizer is also due at the close of class.

Using your completed graphic organizers as a resource, please respond to the following question in a well-written paragraph of a minimum of 150 words.

To what extent is the gambler John Oakhurst a realist character?

Begin with a MLA heading.

Review the qualities of realism at the beginning of your graphic organizer

Make sure to include at least four examples of textual evidence that support your argument. These may be woven into your own sentences.  Remember: hook sentence, clear thesis, evidence for your argument and a concluding statement that is not a repeat of your introductory statement.

If you receive extended time, I will collect both your essay and your graphic organizer at the beginning of class on Friday; otherwise, both the graphic organizer and the essay are due at the close of class on Thursday.
